ABOUT

Hi, my name is Julie Hennessy, and I've lived on Cape Cod since 1987.  I grew up in western Mass, but my family traveled to the Cape for every summer vacation.  It is my love of the ocean that brought me back here to continue my career as a letter carrier for the USPS, in the Hyannis area.  I live in Centerville with my husband Bob, a retired firefighter and carpenter. I have been blessed with two amazing sons, Tom and Joe & wife Soran, and two amazing stepsons, Matt and Drew & wife Ashley, and two beautiful granddaughters.

I have been practicing yoga since 2011, and teaching since 2016.  The first yoga class I ever took was at a gym, and I didn't know what to expect.  It was the most difficult "exercise" class I had ever taken, and every muscle in my body ached, but I knew I wanted more.  After about 5 years of practicing yoga 3-4 times a week, I decided to deepen my practice by enrolling in a 200-hour yoga teacher training with Boston Yoga School.  One of the things they stressed in the training was to always be a student and to never stop learning, which I have strived to do in my yoga journey. I recently retired from the USPS, after almost 36 years of delivering mail, and in my spare time I love to explore the Cape with my husband, who is my biggest fan!

I teach Align/Flow, Slow Flow, Yin & Restorative, and Beach classes throughout the Cape. I think it is important to allow people to slow down in their practice so they can feel the pose in their body, and to allow the body time to linger in the pose to receive it's full benefits.
